What is the Deustchlandstipendium?
The Deutschlandstipendium or in English „The Germany Scholarship” is a scholarship that the Martin-Luther-University awards every year (starting on the beginning of the winter semester) to talented students who are expected to achieve or who have already achieved excellent academic or professional merits.
How much money do I get with the Deutschlandstipendium and for how long?
The monthly scholarship is 300 euros, of which half is funded by the federal government and the other half by private sponsors. The scholarship is usually awarded for two semesters.
When do I need to apply?
The coming application period for the winter semester 2021/2022 for all applicants began on 30 April 2021 and ends on 01 June 2021.
What if I am an international student, can I still apply?
YES!!! Applications are open to:
• Students of all subjects and all nations at the MLU who have not yet exceeded the standard period of study in their programme as well as
• University applicants who have met all the admission requirements and will begin studying at MLU in winter semester 2021/2022. An application is also eligible at the time there is not yet an admission for the studies at MLU.
How can I apply?
For your application, please use the online application portal, provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research by this external link.

Step 2: Carefully read, fill in, print out and sign the application agreement. The signed agreement then needs to be scanned and attached to your online application
Step 3: Enter and save all the required information in the online application portal.
Step 4: Start gathering all the necessary documents you need to upload for your application.
Step 5: Write a unique and authentic motivational letter. Your motivational letter is an essential part of your application, so make sure to put a lot of time and effort into it.
Step 6: Upload all the required documents as PDF and send your application.
What are the chances of getting the scholarship?
The awarding of the Deutschlandstipendium of course depends on your special achievements, distinctions, awards, e.g., academic, sport, dance, music. But also depends on how many sponsors support the Germany Scholarship programme at the university and for which areas of study scholarships are available.
When will I know if I got the scholarship?
The scholarship will be awarded on 01 October 2021.
